Remember being different isn't a hindrance, it's a magic wand.

In Crossover/Adult fiction
-
Romances that make a reader swoon, cry, and laugh. Rom-coms are fun so anything in the vein of Ali Hazelwood, Jenny Han, and Jasmine Guillory. Give me meet-cutes, enemies to lovers, and "pact" relationships but I do not want age-gap romances.
-
Slice-of-life stories with romance that have funny moments but focus on family, and life changes. Think of women's fiction like Sophie Kinsella, Kennedy Ryan, and Emily Henry.
-
Most adults have had messy 20s and 30s so I want characters who are stuck at useless jobs, who either have too many lovers or no lovers or they lose their shit and annihilate whomever they want to ^-^ Books like Awaeke Emezi's You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty, and Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood.
-
Romantic, steamy paranormal romances. Give me vampires, werewolves, and ghosts.
-
Cozy mysteries where the "what is life" MC gets laid and solves the murder. I'm not a fit for international espionage or procedurals.
-
Thrillers that can speak to systemic issues and maybe you are even rooting for the bad guy/gal.
-
Contemporary stories that address generation trauma with an MC who is striving to break the cycle.
-
I am always looking for stories that highlight mental health!

In YA fiction
-
Gothic romances where the setting is just as important as the MCs and has morally grey characters that steal your heart.
-
Revenge is sweet but sweeter in a fantasy world. I want high-concept, commercial ideas with high stakes.
-
Teen romance that doesn't have a happy ending. Break my heart like A Walk to Remember, The Fault In Our Stars, and If I Stay.
-
I do not shy away from horror, especially if it is tied to cultural lore. Give me girls and fems who haunt, stalk, and revel in payback.
-
Retellings with twists and fresh characters are great. I am still waiting for a Northanger Abbey retelling to hit my query inbox!

In middle grade fiction
-
Play in Ghibli's sandbox. From fantasy to contemporary stories with emotion, commentary, and humor threaded throughout. Think Marnie Was Here, Kiki's Delivery Service, Ponyo, and Castle in The Sky.
-
Something spooky with a lot of fun twists like everyone's friendly ghost Casper (the 90s' movie!)
-
Fall in love/crush for the first time all over again. Innocent firsts that are wholesome and awkward!
-
Magical kids who want revenge and who will protect their loved ones with everything they got.

In Picture Books
-
Laughs are great
-
I love stories that celebrate individuality and culture
-
You can never go wrong with a life lesson where mental health is highlighted
